Canal Museum: Open Day

The Panama Canal Museum opens its doors in memory of the victims of the US military invasion of Panama in 1989.

They announced that they would have an open house Tuesday, December 20.

During this day access to museum exhibitions It will be free for all citizens, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

They will provide visitors with a unique opportunity to look back at one of the most tragic events in our history.

In addition, they will have the opportunity to tour all the premises, incl “The road to sovereignty 1964-1999” which presents the history of the canal negotiation process, the passage of the Canal and neighboring territories into Panamanian hands.

It also exhibits complex political context in which these events took place, including the military dictatorship and the 1989 invasion.

Committed to preserving historical memory, Canal Museum included immersive, participatory and educational experiences in this room.

In this part there is a recording booth “Tell us your story,” which invites visitors to share their own experiences of the military regime and the 1989 invasion, thus enriching the historical narrative and providing different perspectives on the events that have marked our recent history.

In this way, the Museum tries to turn your visit into an opportunity for dialogue, connection and collective reflection on the history of Panama.

They repeat this call to that day of reflection, exploring the historical events that have shaped us as a nation.
