New this week on Netflix: celebrated Marvel action in an extended version, the grand finale of an epic series and more

This week, Netflix is ​​once again adding a colorful mix of films and series to its program that are intended to soften the cold December days. One of the absolute highlights is the second part of the sixth season of “The crown“, which concludes the series epic in spectacular fashion with six final episodes. Action fans, on the other hand, get a real gem with the extended version of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” that adds even more humor to the Marvel film.

But that wasn’t all – Here you will find a carefully selected selection of new films and series on Netflix in the week of December 11 to 17, 2023.

Monday: “One Like None” in Korean

The week starts on Netflix with just one new addition: the Korean teen series True beauty, in which young Lim Ju-kyung (Moon Ga-young) changes schools after being teased by her classmates. At the new school everything should be different, and that’s why the teenager uses her expert makeup skills to improve her appearance a little. In the long run, however, it’s harder for her to pass herself off to her new friends than she thought. The series first aired on the South Korean channel in 2020 to 2021 aired and now comes to the streaming giant with the big red N with all 16 episodes.

Tuesday: The bumpy road to the World Cup title

The documentary miniseries Under pressure: the US team for the Women’s World Cup is dedicated to the US women’s national soccer team, which wanted to win its third consecutive FIFA World Cup title in Australia and New Zealand in 2023. However, defending the World Cup title proved more difficult than expected as the team was eliminated in the round of 16. In four episodes, the documentary highlights the team’s road to the World Cup and the pressure that comes with being a top team in this tough competition.

Wednesday: Kida Khodr Ramadan in a double suit

The German actor Kida Khodr Ramadan is available in a double pack on Wednesday. First there are all three seasons of the successful series 4 blocks to Netflix, which delighted gangster and thriller fans with 19 strong episodes between 2017 and 2020. In it, Ramadan takes on the role of clan leader Toni Hamady, who tries to further expand his drug and casino empire in Neukölln. But the Berlin police are hot on his trail – and with them the undercover police officer Vince Kerner (Frederick Lau).

The second Ramadan vehicle comes with the comedy series German genius to Netflix: Here the actor embodies himself with a good dose of irony – in the time after ‘4 Blocks’, in which he was repeatedly offered the same, boring roles. Instead, he wants to make his own series and is sticking with English comedy star Ricky Gervais in the hope he would approve a German version of his hit series ‘Extras’.

However, the biggest challenge still awaits the actor, as he realizes that it is not that easy to set up a series on his own. In addition to Ramadan and Gervais, a number of guest stars such as Heike Makatsch, Olli Schulz and Katrin Bauernfeind await you in the eight episodes of the first season.

Thursday: “The Crown” comes to an end

OfThe crown The first major series arrived on Netflix in November 2016 and captivated an international audience of millions with a record budget, lavish sets, a top-notch cast and a gripping story about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Seven years and six seasons later, the successful series on the streaming service is finally coming to an end. After the first part of the sixth season reached us on November 16 with four episodes about the death of Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki), the last six episodes on Wednesday complete the big series finale of “The Crown”.

After the death of his mother, Prince William (Ed McVey) must find his way back to Eton boarding school, while his relationship with his father Prince Charles (Dominic West) remains tense. When he finally takes his place at St. Andrews University, the young prince is faced with even more challenges: the constant and annoying presence of guards on the one hand, and the growing love for his fellow student on the other. Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy).

Meanwhile, Princess Margaret (Leslie Manville) suffers a stroke and eventually succumbs to its effects, which also affects Queen Elizabeth (Imelda Staunton). The 50th anniversary of the throne is finally causing Britain’s queen to reflect on the monarchy and its legacy. But there’s another silver lining on the horizon with the upcoming wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles (Olivia Williams).

Friday: More “Spider-Man”

In total, the extended version contains no less than 8 additional minutes of “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.

Saturday gives you time to catch up on the weekday’s programming before Netflix sends us off with a final title of the week on Sunday.

Sunday: Japanese crime action

The Japanese action series awaits you on Sunday “Lively”, in which a money transfer gone wrong reaches epic proportions for a rather clumsy and unassuming businessman as he becomes entangled in a global network of crime. The exciting series with Masato Sakai and Fumi Nikaido comes to the streaming service with the 10 episodes of the first season.
