The project, which Zack Snyder (“Man Of Steel”) once presented as a “Star Wars” adventure, takes on the main task of setting up an original sci-fi universe, including a complex mythology that goes back can be found in various films, series and movies. even games need to be distributed.
It starts with the two-part film directed by Snyder: “Rebel Moon – Part 1: Child of Fire” (Netflix launch: December 22, 2023) and “Rebel Moon – Part 2: The Scar Maker” (Netflix launch: April 19, 2023 ). 2024). The press promises an epic!
As we have come to expect, initial opinions should always be interpreted with some caution, but in the case of “Rebel Moon” you can be pretty sure that the film will bring out the big guns in terms of staging and visuals. TotalFilm’s Molly Edwards also confirms this:
“Okay, ‘Rebel Moon’ is just epic! Huge scale, beautiful visuals (of course), fantastic action and there’s some truly fascinating mythology! There are a lot of exciting hints about what’s to come, but it’s also very satisfying as a standalone film. Jimmy also stole my heart.”
Film critic Sunny Ramgolam has some criticisms, but is still looking forward to the second part: “It takes a while before ‘Rebel Moon’ finds its feet, there is so much to discover and establish. Snyder is a master of action and ultimately I was on board. I’m already looking forward to part 2, without all the baggage and expectations of the ‘Star Wars’ series.”
The X account of On the other hand, expectations are considerably raised: “This movie deserves the hype. Epic, beautiful and surprisingly emotional are just a few words I can use to describe this film.”
Hollywoodhandle’s TomMCJL gets much more detailed in his response to “Rebel Moon” (especially by X standards). As he writes: “Zack Snyder’s ‘Rebel Moon – Part 1’ is a triumphant welcome to an all-new and promising universe and offers some of my Zack Snyder’s favorite moments yet (+ a compelling, powerful third act).
The film is big, grand, epic and chock-full of mythology, which we’re only scratching the surface of here because so much remains unrevealed. With his ambition for the story and the world, Snyder makes his own ‘300’ a reality.
I loved the characters, especially Sofia Boutella’s Kora, Hopkins’ Jimmy, Huisman’s Gunnar and Doona’s nemesis. I’m excited to hear more from them (keep in mind this is a two-part story). Kudos also to Ed Skrein, who delivered a cunning, cold and fantastic performance as a Nobel Prize winner.
Even though the movie isn’t for everyone and isn’t perfect, I still really enjoyed it and my anticipation for Part 2, which comes out in April, has reached a new high. For me, Part 1 could definitely be one of the top 3 Snyder films, next to ‘Man Of Steel’ and ‘Justice League’.”
Also James Lister, who works for, among others writes, enthuses: “I’ve seen ‘Rebel Moon’ and it’s visually stunning and an ambitious ride. Even though it’s not perfect, this first volume certainly leaves you wanting more. Bring on part 2!”
