Taylor Swift was chosen as Time magazine’s Person of the Year

The American singer Taylor Swift was chosen as the person of the year by the magazine “Time”, in its long-awaited annual list, thus positioning herself ahead of other candidates, such as the Chinese president Xi Jinping, the Barbie doll or the guru of artificial intelligence Sam Altman.

At 33, Swift has a long career under her belt that spans nearly two decades; his current tour “The Eras Tour”as well as the film inspired by the same tour, became two milestones of the year, musically and cinematographically, after attracting millions of viewers.

“Swift’s achievements as an artist, both culturally and commercially because there are so many in criticism that counting them is almost a useless job,” states Time and compares the current pop star with Elvis Presley, Madonna or Michael Jackson on stage, while as a composer he equates her with greats like Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney or Joni Mitchell.

Not forgetting the singer’s face as businesswoman, with an estimated fortune of over $1 billion, and as a celebrity, who has become someone who is scrutinized for every step she takes, every outfit she wears, and every word she utters; something Time says it knows “and knows how to use.”

But those qualities, which other artists have achieved before her, are accompanied by gestures that are not so common, as when it was revealed last August that she handed out $55 million in bonuses to all her collaborators on The Eras Tour, including – according to what they wrote at the time specialized media, since she never advertised about it – $100,000 bonuses for truck drivers who transport all their equipment.

For many years, Swift knew how to swim cautiously in the waters of politics in a country that is increasingly polarized on many issues, but she did not hesitate to take a stand in favor of LGBT rights or the obligation to vaccinate during Covid, in 2020 she took the most significant step, publicly supporting the candidacy of Joe Biden vs Donald Trump.

Born in 1989 in West Reading, Pennsylvania, at the age of 14 he moved to Nashville, the capital of country music, and signed a contract with Sony at that age.

Since then, he has not given up his fame, but in 2023, that fame reached levels rarely seen in any artist, becoming a massive global phenomenon.
