Angelina Jolie criticized Hollywood: ‘It’s not healthy’

Actress Angelina Jolie is very critical of Hollywood, the industry in which she grew up and gained international fame, and which she assures that, in addition to being a “superficial” world, it is not a healthy place.

“I grew up in a pretty shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood It’s not healthy,” he says in an interview with The Wall Street Journal on the occasion of the upcoming premiere of the film “Maria”, in which he will portray the role of soprano Maria Callas.

Jolie points out to the media that she would not be an actress today: “Perhaps theater, but no Hollywood. When I started, there were not so many expectations that I would be so public, that I would share so much.”

The actress assures that the first years of fame were very difficult, that she had depression and suicidal thoughts; Furthermore, he experienced the highest point of his career while his mother was dying of cancer.

In an interview with an American newspaper, he admits that, although thanks public She has a career, people have an image of her that does not fully correspond to reality and that does not allow her to express her suffering or sadness.

“Even when I was young, people liked the part of me that was quite tough and maybe a bit wild. The public doesn’t want to hear about my pain or sadness. It’s not fun,” he says.

Although Angelina Jolie continues to work on films, such as the third part of the Disney saga “Maleficent”, she has also embarked on projects that have little or nothing to do with cinema.

She recently made the leap into the world of fashion with “Atelier Jolie”, a sustainable brand based in NoHo – a neighborhood in Manhattan – where she has a workshop where clients can create their own clothes with the help of designers and artisans. .

In addition, Jolie is involved in the production of the Broadway musical “The Outsiders”, based on the book of the same name by Susan Eloise Hinton and its 1983 film adaptation by Francis Ford Coppola.

The actress will also star in “Maria,” a biopic about opera singer María Callas directed by acclaimed Chilean director Pablo Larraín, slated for release in late 2024 or 2025.

Jolie admits to The Wall Street Journal that she feels “a little terrified” playing Callas, because she doesn’t consider herself a singer, and what’s more, she doesn’t usually sing even in private, confining herself to a soft “Happy Birthday.” Holidays.
