Dive into the Christmas genre from a different perspective

The Mexican family film ‘Santa Mi Amor’, which can be viewed on Prime Video from December 8, tries to talk about Christmas from a different point of view, and it stars Ana Serradilla, David Chocarro and Olivia Duflos, who admitted in an interview with Efe that they have never made a Christmas movie and that it is a genre that “costs little in Mexico”.

“In Mexico, genres suddenly become a little more difficult and to dare to make a Christmas film was not an easy thing, but if you have the support of a studio like Lemon, Amazon, with a director like José Sierra, with an actor like David Chocarro and the story is finished, I think we had ingredients,” Serradilla said.

He said yes about the story “honest and authentic”so they saw that it would be possible to make an “unusual” Mexican Christmas film.

In the film, Lucía (Ana Serradilla) is a successful professional and single mother of 6-year-old Leo (Olivia Duflos), who is obsessed Christmas and who believes that a Christmas miracle is responsible for his birth.

Between my two full-time jobs ( maternity and architecture), has no time or desire to fall in love again, but when she reluctantly agrees to a blind date with Sergio (David Chocarro), the spark is undeniable.

As Lucía falls more and more in love with Sergio every day, her fear grows that Leo will not take well that her mother, who devoted her life to her, now has a boyfriend, but after a long-distance relationship, the couple decide it’s time to make it official with Leo.

But things don’t go exactly as she planned and Lucía will have no choice but to try to convince little Leo that Sergio is nothing less than her biggest idol: Santa Claus.

Both actors agreed that the backbone of the film ” love” even though the packaging is Christmas.

“Love through the story of another family and how different family models can be generated,” shared Chocarro.

Presence Olivia Duflos on the ‘set’, who is in love with Christmas in real life, they made the filming even more magical.

“We put all our energy into getting it our inner child and that recording was a game. Although there were difficulties as in all shoots, (Olivia’s presence) made us come every day with energy and a very nice incentive to play. It was something very beautiful,” said Serradilla.

Finally, they shared that they see many messages on this tape, especially Fr diversity in families.

“It seems to me that this movie It’s full of things (messages) other than entertainment, looking for that goal, that people end up feeling better than when the movie started. I think there are many learning topics and reflection and definitely in how Sergio behaves in this situation,” Chocarro concluded.
