‘Two And A Half Men’ creator Chuck Lorre has a new comedy series starting with ‘Bookie’. This has already caused a stir in recent months because it was announced early on that Charlie Sheen would make a cameo appearance on camera. This caused a stir as Lorre and Sheen once had a rather explosive argument. Which ultimately led to Sheen being replaced by Ashton Kutcher in ‘Two And A Half Men’.
Sheen doesn’t have a starring role in “Bookie,” but his small role shows that things have calmed down between the two men a decade after the conflict began. For the first episode of the series, which aired in the US on November 30, 2023, they have also come up with a very special treat for all “Two And A Half Men” fans: Not only Charlie Sheen returns, but also actor Jake Angus T-Jones!
Jake actor is also in “Bookie”!
Nobody expected that. In the final two seasons (11 and 12) of Two And A Half Men, Jones wasn’t even a regular cast member anymore, although he did return for the finale of the hit sitcom. There was also the fact that Jones stepped away from acting after describing himself as a “paid hypocrite.” But the now 30-year-old once again took credit for “Bookie.”
And that’s not all: the series premiere episode even recreates a scene from the very first episode of “Two And A Half Men.” At a rehabilitation center, Charlie Sheen, impersonating himself, is in charge of a poker game. Not because he is a guest at the facility, but because he likes the location and the free parking. Angus T. Jones, who was still busy disturbing Charlie and his friends while playing poker in the first episode ‘Two And A Half Men’, also takes a seat at the table.
Incidentally: Not only Charlie Sheen and Angus T. Jones can be seen at the table here. The other gamers are exactly the actors who were also in the aforementioned ‘Two And A Half Men’ episode: Jones Eddie Gorodetsky, Eugene Byrd, Frankie Jay Allison and Dan Foster. Only Thomas F. Wilson is missing from this case. For fans of “Two And A Half Men,” this sight naturally evokes incredibly nostalgic feelings.
Chuck Lorre told us how this happened explains: After talking to Sheen about the poker scene, he had the idea to ask the Jake actor too. “I called Angus and said, ‘Would you like to hang out for an afternoon, have some fun and film the scene?’ And he was done. […] He is still a natural talent.”Lorre said.
Is a reunion with Jon “Alan” Cryer possible?
Jon Cryer, who played Charlie’s brother and Jake’s father Alan in “Two And A Half Men”, is not there, but is at least mentioned by name. According to Lorre, fans should not hope for a complete reunion: “I don’t believe it. Not that I know of. It’s stupid to rule it out completely. For me, doing new things is even more fun and enjoyable. And to make the things we did in the past belong to the past .”
In the US, “Bookie” launched on the Max streaming service. It is not yet known when and how the series will come to Germany. In the past, Max series appeared on WOW (formerly Sky Ticket) and RTL+, among others.
