Thanks to the ‘Twilight’ saga, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson became megastars in the late 2000s and early 2010s, bringing the romance between vampire Edward Cullen and human Bella Swan to the big screen in five films based on Stephanie Meyer’s hit novels. For many fans, the two have become integral to their iconic roles, even though the actors themselves had few good words for the fantasy franchise after filming.
Although it was announced a few months ago that the story about Bella and Edward would be reprinted in a serial film adaptation, one question in particular arises: Who could embody the two lovers in a reboot and thus carry the new ‘Twilight’ generation? Director Catherine Hardwicke, who directed the first part of the fantasy series in 2008, has a few ideas.

Jacob Elordi rose to fame through Netflix’s The Kissing Booth trilogy, as well as his role as Nate Jacobs in the critically acclaimed HBO series Euphoria. The Australian actor is currently starring in Sofia Coppola’s drama ‘Priscilla’ as Elvis Presley, while in the US he can also be seen opposite Barry Keoghan in festival favorite ‘Saltburn’.
Jenna Ortega, on the other hand, made her breakthrough as the title character in the Netflix series ‘Wednesday’, while horror fans also know her from the last two parts of the ‘Scream’ series. However, due to scheduling reasons surrounding the filming of the second season of ‘Wednesday’, Ortega will no longer be part of ‘Scream 7’.

The adaptation is a retelling of the main plot by Stephanie Meyers The series of novels has not yet been confirmed, so the series could also be a spin-off and focus on characters other than Bella and Edward, or the story we already know from can give a different perspective.
The series has been in development at Lionsgate Television since spring this year and is expected to receive a script from ‘Raised By Wolves’ author Sinaed Daly.
