During yesterday’s “Silent Hill Transmission”, the bomb exploded: for a long time it was just rumors, but fans can look forward to a video game remake of “Silent Hill 2” soon. It first appears as a console exclusive for the PlayStation 5, a later version for the PC will follow. “Silent Hill 2” was originally released for the PS2 in 2001 and is not only considered the pinnacle of the series for many gamers, but is also one of the best horror games of all time (see also “The 25 Best Horror Games” article by the GamePro editors.)
But movie buffs also have reason to rejoice, because, as has now been announced, is becoming Christopher Gansthe director of the first”Silent Hill‘ 2006 adaptation, a new one ‘Silent Hillmovie in scene. And how could it be otherwise: this is based on the story of “Silent Hill 2”. Producer Victor Hadida has already announced that the horror film will be modern while also swearing allegiance to the video game. This means that well-known monsters (including the legendary Pyramid Head) will appear, but in an updated version.
Also interesting is Christophe Gans’ statement that the new “Silent Hill” comic should be released next year. Go ahead: “The script for the new film is completely separate from the previous two films and respects the way ‘Silent Hill’ has evolved. Silent Hill is a bit like ‘Twilight Zone’, the fourth dimension, a place where anything can happen. I’ve been working on a new ‘Silent Hill’, a 2023 ‘Silent Hill’ as the movie comes out next year. It’s no longer ‘Silent Hill’ as I imagined it to be in 2006.”
