Jamie Dornan will be best known to the general public for his performances in the three-part erotic series ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’. The Irish actor is no longer just the object of desire of screaming teenagers, but has also proven himself as a serious actor with films such as ‘Belfast’ and ‘A Haunting In Venice’.
The career of Robert Pattinson (“The Batman”), who celebrated his breakthrough in the series “Twilight” as the vampire Edward who shimmered in the sunlight, followed a similar course. The born Londoner subsequently enjoyed a meteoric rise as a character actor, working with major directors such as Werner Herzog, Bong Joon-ho, Claire Denis, David Cronenberg and Christopher Nolan.
Some jealousy is allowed
In an interview with Wired (via Far away), Jamie Dornan has spoken about his envious view of Robert Pattinson’s success. Even though Dornan is now a busy star, Robert Pattinson’s career has taken off much more quickly, allowing the actor to land big projects and film all over the world:
“I’ve known Robert for ages. He’s a really good friend. I love him. I think he’s one of the most interesting and exciting actors out there. I was probably quite jealous at first. We were all in London and Robert traveled all over the world, but we didn’t.”
From the perspective of an aspiring actor, it’s understandable that Jamie Dornan would have been jealous of Robert Pattinson’s career. But this apparently did not divide the friendship between the two men at all. Rather the opposite. In the conversation with Dornan also emphasizes that he thinks Pattinson is probably the nicest person in the world.
