Christmas market in Salzburg

The people of Salzburg call Advent their fifth season, and of course the singing of Advent songs in the Grand Festival Hall is one of the highlights of the Mozart city. The Christmas market at Domplatz and Residenzplatz has attracted many guests every Christmas for over 70 years, but it is still beautiful and friendly. The market opens every year with a celebratory ceremony on the Thursday of the week before the first Sunday of Advent, and closes its doors again on January 1. From local customs to traditional decorations, from incense for contemplative times to Austrian specialties and all kinds of culinary delights in the form of punch – it’s pure joy!

Christmas market Linz

The Christmas market in the main square focuses on vintage crafts. It is overshadowed by its impressive baroque style. The atmosphere at Pfarrplatz, where regional producers present their products at the winter market, is less ostentatious but simpler. Open fireplaces radiate cosiness.
