Shirin David: I love you, but…

I love Shirin David.

The 28-year-old is probably the most polarizing German rapper of the moment. Last weekend Shirin David stopped in Zurich for her arena tour. I was there when she wore hers with pouty lips and dressed in a hint of nothing Text was correct:

There were thousands of teenagers around me singing lines like this at the top of their lungs. There was a sense of community that I really liked. The Hamburg native serves as a source of inspiration for millions of young people.

But.

It is not only the lyrics that attract Shirin David’s attention, but especially her extravagant outfits and her body.

Her young fans, who bounce to my left and right, have apparently not only memorized their lyrics, but also follow their idol in style. I haven’t seen so much naked skin at a concert in a long time. I especially remember a young girl sitting two rows below me: she wore short, tight pants and covered only her nipples with a silver tape.

I absolutely loved these outfits. It’s nice to see the teenagers dress the way they want. Long gone are the days when a person was reduced to their appearance. Welcome to 2023! Still, I thought to myself: Can Brazilian buttlift and feminism coexist?

My thought irritated me. Of course, Brazilian Butt Lift and feminism can coexist!

In a Spiegel interview, the rapper said: “Feminism is the term we women have to use to be heard. But at its core, for me it’s about self-determination: every woman can do what she wants without being judged, can wear a turtleneck or be completely naked.

Wearing revealing clothing is undoubtedly a personal choice, and everyone has the right to express themselves as they wish.

Yet outfits can be provocative – even in 2023, where as a woman it should be possible to walk around as much as you want. Young girls who dress like Shirin David immediately attract attention. Unfortunately not all positive. They expose themselves to dangers of which I, as a 28-year-old, am aware. This mainly concerns sexual harassment. This is by no means the fault of the girls, but of society, because as a 17-year-old girl you cannot know that.

Shirin David shows millions of young people a life that brings danger. The reason: Our society still consists of many people bastards Sexists who cannot accept that a revealing outfit is just a revealing outfit. No more and no less.

Because: A woman is because of her outfit never Guilty of sexual abuse.

As a 28 year old adult woman, I answer my question whether Brazilian Butt Lift and feminism can coexist with a clear yes. After attending the concert, surrounded by partying girls, I had some doubts.

It was initially unusual to see young girls in such outfits. But these teens should be incredibly proud of themselves. They continue to prove to society that the finger should not be pointed at them, but at them Assholes Sexists.

Even though Shirin David speaks openly about her cosmetic surgeries and advocates for equal rights, her over-sexualized appearance is unfortunately often misunderstood.

But not from me. You know, I love her.
