The most pirated films in 2022

With the advancement of technology, piracy of streaming sites is on the rise. This is nothing but illegal copying or distribution of copyrighted material over the Internet.

In this sense, the MUSO Film and Television Piracy Report 2022 highlights which films suffered the most from piracy last year.

According to the report, although “piracy has caused immeasurable damage and loss to the entertainment industry, (…) as piracy increases, so does the amount of data that can be used to understand and take better advantage of consumer trends and patterns.

All is not lost. “Using this data can provide a unique point of view that in turn can enable the production or acquisition of content that more strongly engages the target market,” the company said in its more than 20-page report.

Company analysis anti-piracy revealson the other hand, visits to movie content piracy websites increased by 36.4% in 2022 compared to 2021, while visits to television content piracy websites increased by 8.8%.

In the last 10 years there has been gradual movement from torrents (online piracy symbol) to unlicensed streaming.

In 2022, 95% of television content watched illegally worldwide were via unlicensed streaming websites (compared to 5% of downloaded content).
