For years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a neatly planned blockbuster series with all the cogs working together. But now the gearbox is being sharpened a lot. After some of the last superhero productions failed to take off in theaters and “The Marvels” actually had the weakest theatrical release in MCU history to date, the issues surrounding Jonathan Majors may have created additional headaches for those responsible.
It now no longer seems out of the question that Marvel will permanently retain the Kang actor. There is currently a possibility for a new cast or even a complete recast of the MCU and thus a departure from the Kang storyline, where Doctor Doom could instead take the place as the new main villain.

The director was hired for the upcoming Avengers meeting in 2022 and would lead the group of heroes into the first major encounter with Kang and his parallel personalities. But nothing comes of that now.
The director will continue to direct “Wonder Man.”
Apparently, however, this decision wasn’t made due to creative differences or the fact that those in charge at Marvel/Disney had a falling out with the filmmaker, as “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings” director Destin Daniel Cretton says. will go on to direct the upcoming MCU series “Wonder Man.”
It is much more likely that this decision is related to the possible rescheduling of the previous Marvel plan. Recently the insider had done just that reported that screenwriter Jeff Loveness and “Loki” creator Michael Waldron were also dropped from “Avengers 5” and “Avengers 6,” respectively.
Fans of the comedy blockbuster series will likely have to prepare for stormy and uncertain times in the future. Because whether it’s a complete recast or just a new cast within the Kang storyline, there’s going to be a big change coming to the MCU either way.
There is currently no successor for Destin Daniel Crettonso it remains to be seen who will ultimately hold the directorial scepter when “Avengers 5: The Kang Dynasty” hopefully premieres in German cinemas on April 29, 2026.
