A quick mulled wine on the way home or a gift for loved ones: The Christmas market at the main station is especially popular with commuters. The Christmas market fascinates the main station every year. It is one of the largest in Europe with more than 120 stalls. Twinkling lights and decorated Christmas tree evoke the anticipation of Christmas!

Dorfli Christmas market

Zurich’s most romantic Christmas market is also the oldest: decorated stalls among historic buildings in Niederdorf reflect a cozy Christmas atmosphere. The area in Rosenhof is particularly spartan.

Zurich Wienachtsdorf am Bellevue

At Wienachtsdorf at Sechseläutenplatz, the focus is on entertainment. Many of the hundreds of stalls offer delicacies from around the world; Ideal for drinking mulled wine after work with colleagues. The centerpiece of Wienachtsdorf is the large, illuminated Christmas tree, which invites you to linger and chat. You can enjoy a cozy fondue evening in the Klosters Hüschi fondue chalet. Visitors can look forward to a colorful and diverse program again this year.

Christmas street near Zurich main station

There is a nice little Christmas market near the train station in Europaallee. As you wander along Christmas Boulevard, changing creative food stalls offer a wide variety of options. In stores you can find sweets, jewelry and souvenirs. Christmas lighting completes the experience.

Singing Christmas Tree at Werdmühleplatz

At the Wiehnachtsmarkt on Werdmühleplatz, things are strange: More than 30 local choirs sing Christmas carols on a Christmas tree-shaped stage. Concerts will take place every day at 17.30 and 18.30.

Holy Bimbam in Maag Hall

Tired of the same old stuff? Located in Maag Hall near Oerlikon train station, the Holy Bimbam Christmas market focuses on independent record labels, artists, young designers and concept stores. Nearly 150 participants will attend Hall 622 for three days. Zurich DJs will accompany the special shopping feeling with club sounds.

Illuminarium – State Museum of Christmas Lights

Christmas is the festival of lights. Zurich artist group Projektil also thought so and transformed the inner courtyard of the State Museum into a magical world of lights. In the 3D “Illuminarium” show, mythical creatures take you to the Christmas bakery. There is also a Christmas atmosphere in the State Museum: The nativity scene exhibition attracts the attention of children every year. The program is available here.

Christmas circus Circus Conelli

Acrobats, magicians and clowns: the fantasy world of a circus is especially suitable in preparation for Christmas. That was Circus Conelli’s idea: the Swiss family circus has been an integral part of Christmas in Zurich and Bauschänzli near Bellevue for over 35 years. Christmas city tour

City tours are also available in the Christmas edition. The tour “Zurich Old Town on Foot” provides information not only about the history of the city of Limmat, but also about the places of Zurich Advent. Happy children in fairy tale

Märlitram is now a tradition. Two angels in a vintage carriage read fairy tales and stories to little ones aged 4-10. Only children between the ages of four and ten are allowed to ride. Tickets can be ordered online and collected directly from Jelmoli Children’s World on the 2nd floor. Cash sales start on Friday, November 17, 2023. The “Märlitram” stop is located in Bellevue.
