Details on ‘Based on a True Story’

There is currently a saturation of content and it is difficult to stand out, however, “Based On a True Story”, thriller comedy, he manages it very well, because he keeps the audience interested.

On the occasion of the premiere of the film The first season series, on Universal+ on November 14, actresses Priscilla Quintana (Ruby Gale) and Liana Liberato (Tory Thompson) revealed to Panama América some details about their participation in the program.

Liberato assured that “Based on a true story” It is an “intelligent” and “unpredictable” program, the episodes are short but very juicy, so the audience can watch it in one sitting as if it were a movie.

Quintana, for his part, had an idea of what the series would be, although the opposite always happened. “Every time I turned the page (of the script), I was surprised by what came next,” he mentioned.

The series is about a real estate agent (Ava Bartlett), a plumber (Matt Pierce) and former tennis star (Nathan Bartlett) whose lives unexpectedly collide, exposing America’s obsession with true crime and murder.

“I really felt like a detective, trying to figure out who the killer was and what was going on. And if they were going to be caught. Every time I thought I knew what was going on, they just surprised me,” Quintana said.

As for the characters, Quintana played RubyAva’s best friend, played by Kaley Cuoco, since college and is the fun, wild friend you call if you want to dance or have a cocktail.

“I think a mistake that Ava makes sometimes is she trusts her partying friend too much, and that could work against her later in the series,” Quintana admitted.

While Tory, the character Liberato, “has a bit more of a moral compass” and in its own way “disrupts Ava and Nathan’s plans and trajectory in the series.”

“(…) She’s very intelligent. She’s really funny, which was scary as an actress knowing that I’m going to be working with Kaley, who is a comedic genius, knowing that you have to live that,” the actress said.

“I love what you say. Because both characters we are disruptors, but in completely different ways. Yours is always unintentional and mine is intentional,” Quintana added.

For some, working with Cuoco can be intimidating, however, the actresses overcame that fear during filming as the performer made them feel comfortable and even helped Quintana remember her lines several times.

“She’s an incredible leader, which makes sense when you see her through it all program. It’s obvious that she shines and people give her these amazing roles and opportunities because she’s so easy to work with and you feel very cared for and protected,” Liberato said.
