South Africa

If you want to escape Switzerland’s autumn and winter and recharge your batteries, it is best to head to the southern hemisphere. Because while winter comes here, summer comes in the south, and the seasons are reflected there. Destinations such as Australia, New Zealand, Chile or Argentina are perfect destinations for the cold season in the north.

But our favorite is around Cape Town in South Africa. Since the time difference is only one hour, jet lag is limited; Ideal for those who can only go on a few holidays. And in just a few days you can experience all the magic of South Africa in the Cape region. Cape Town is a vibrant metropolis with many cultures and a rich culinary tradition. You can go wine tasting in the surrounding area or visit the penguins and baboons at the Cape of Good Hope. Private game reserves offer the opportunity to go on safari (e.g. Inverdoorn Game Reserve in the Little Karoo), and those who fancy a road trip can head along the coastal road towards Port Elizabeth.

Algarve, Portugal

Portugal’s southern Algarve coast (although officially in the Atlantic Ocean) benefits from a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters. There is more sunshine here than in southern California, and the thermometer can reach 20 degrees in November. While it only rains for five days, the occasional showers quickly disappear. The weather is ideal for exploring the area. In the smaller villages the season officially ends in November, which has the advantage of making the area wonderfully quiet and relaxing. Florida

Florida is known in America as the “Sunshine State” for its beautiful weather and is known as a recreational retreat; many retirees are moving to the southeast because of the nice weather. In November, the rainy season ends and temperatures are quite pleasant between 23 and 26 degrees. High season hasn’t arrived yet, and the tourist crowds won’t arrive until Thanksgiving (November 23). This means less crowds and lower vacation rental prices. However, since November is the last month of the hurricane season, there is also a slight risk of tropical storms.
