It will be a while before ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ comes to Netflix. But at least a teaser gets us in the mood for the upcoming series:
Fans have high expectations for the live-action adaptation of the critically acclaimed cult animated series. A lot of effort went into casting to find actors who visually fit their respective roles. Some lesser known faces were used for this.
The cast is led by Gordon Cormier (“The Stand”) as Avatar Aang, Kiawentiio Tarbell (“Anne With an E”) as waterbender Katara, Ian Ousley (“Dead Girls Don’t Lie”) as Katara’s brother Sokka, Dallas Liu (“Dead Girls Don’t Lie”) as Katara’s brother Sokka, Dallas Liu (“Shang-Chi”) as Fire Prince Zuko, Elizabeth Yu (“Somewhere in Queens”) as Zuko’s sister Azula, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (“The Mandalorian”) as Zuko’s wise uncle Iroh and the “Lost” stars Daniel Dae Kim (“Lost”) as Fire Lord Ozai and Ken Leung (also “Lost”) as Commander Zhao.
That’s what “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is about
In “Avatar: The Lord of the Elements” there are four nations, each belonging to one of the four elements (fire, water, earth, air). Some inhabitants of these lands have the ability to manipulate the elements, but only one – the Avatar – can control all four elements. The focus is on Aang and his friends as they try to stop the ruler of the warlike Fire Nation.
“Avatar: The Last Airbender” will be released on Netflix on February 22, 2024. You can watch the first preview of the series in its original English below:
