The LG OLED B3 is the most affordable OLED TV in LG’s current range. Last year there was the LG OLED A2 as an entry-level model with 60 instead of 120 Hz, in 2023 LG will discontinue the A series in this country.
MyMediaMarkt and mySaturn customers are currently receiving it LG OLED B3* at 55 inches (139 centimeters) incredibly cheap for only 999 euros. That is a saving of 900 euros compared to the recommended retail price. The model has never been so cheap. If you are not a customer of myMediaMarkt or mySaturn, you will pay more than 400 euros more.
LG OLED B3: Here the entry-level OLED is better than the C3
The LG OLED B3 even performs better in some areas than its more expensive brother, the LG OLED C3. The entry-level OLED model therefore offers loud Hifi.de a better moving image. While the C3 still produces minor artifacts, the B3 exhibits clean movements without distortions. The B3 also leads the way in dark scenes. Here Hifi.de confirms that the B3 has better definition of the dark areas and therefore a higher level of detail.
Otherwise, the entry-level OLED offers one very good image quality with the high contrast values typical of OLED screens. The only compromises that need to be made are peak brightness. The B3 achieves about 600 nits, the C3 achieves 900 nits. The absolute highlights of HDR effects such as muzzle flashes are therefore not as effective as with the slightly more expensive model.
However, the B3 hides the lack of peak brightness with its very good tone mapping. Here too, the differences are small and probably only noticeable by direct comparison. Gamers with multiple consoles should also opt for the C3: the B3 has ‘only’ two HDMI 2.1 inputs, while the C3 has four.
The LG OLED B3 is included one of the best entry-level OLEDs on the market and also scores with many gaming functions, very good operation and an impeccable Smart TV system. There is simply a lot of quality here for relatively little money.
LG OLED C3: the alternative with a brighter display
If it could be anything more, it is what has already been mentioned LG OLED C3 a good option. MediaMarkt and Saturn* currently offers you more than 800 euros discount on the recommended retail price and has the 55-inch version of the C3 on offer for 1,519 euros.
The C3 relies on one OLED Evo display with higher peak brightness and has four instead of just two HDMI 2.1 inputs. As already mentioned, the two televisions are otherwise comparable in terms of technical characteristics. A plus point of the C3 is the metal housing and the narrower screen edge. LG has placed more emphasis on quality here than with the B3. However, you currently pay more than 500 euros for the upgrade.
