The Marvel villain fans they’ve been hoping for for years is finally coming to the MCU – played by a cult comedian?

The WandaVision finale left some MCU fans with long faces as an insider known for being trustworthy has been hinting for weeks that legendary Marvel villain Mephisto will make an appearance and prove to be the secret puller behind all the events. It didn’t come to that – as was the case with later titles, where there was a lot of speculation about the character. For example, after the trailer for “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” many fans were sure that Peter Parker (Tom Holland), who so relentlessly helped Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), was actually a Mephisto in disguise. And when that didn’t happen, he was picked as the main villain for “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness” – why else would Marvel hide in advance who the hero is dealing with.

As you know, this did not happen Mephisto has long been a kind of running gag in the MCU. When social media, Reddit and Co. there is speculation about who will be the villain in a new title or who is behind some mysterious organization (see most recently “She-Hulk”), the answers will be someone for fun or with a little writing sparks of seriousness and/or hope “Mephisto”. And now it should be so far…

Sacha Baron Cohen as Mephisto in Ironheart?

Several so-called scoopers, who specialize in finding MCU news, are reporting that Mephisto will appear in the upcoming “Ironheart” series. He is embodied by cult comedian Sacha Baron Cohen (“Borat”).

After all the Mephisto speculations of the past, don’t get your hopes up too high. However, the fact that several scoopers are now reporting it could indicate that something is up this time. Also, the fact that Sacha Baron Cohen was cast in a secret role on “Ironheart” has been circulating for a while.

The focus of “Ironheart” is Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), who will be introduced in the upcoming movie “Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever” and acts as a sort of successor to her role model Iron Man. She builds a similar suit. In her series, she has to deal with the villain The Hood (Anthony Ramos), who knows how to combine technology with magic. The source of this magic would be Mephisto…

Legendary Marvel Villain: This is Mephisto

Mephisto is known in the comics for making such deals with people – mainly because, like the devil that he is, he is interested in their souls, which he demands in return. The demon is one of the most powerful Marvel villains anyway. He rules over his own dimension (the Marvel equivalent of Hell), can manipulate time and, most importantly, change his form, allowing him to move undetected through the human world.

In addition to countless magical abilities that he can fall back on, he also has “normal” superpowers. He is stronger and faster than any human can ever be. The fact that he is immortal makes it even harder to defeat him.

Should Mephisto really appear in “Ironheart” (as I said: one should remain skeptical), then it is to be expected that it will only be a first appearance. He should then have a bigger presence in the MCU and get involved in other titles as well.
