Maya Lopez (Alqua Cox) may be deaf, but she should not be underestimated – on the contrary. The martial arts fighter and descendant of Native Americans has extraordinary skills. We already saw this in the series ‘Hawkeye’, where as leader of the tracksuit mafia she became an opponent of the title hero. Seeking revenge for her father’s death, she set her sights on the archer. Ultimately, she realizes that Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) orchestrated the death. Now she wants to track down this man – even though he was something like a paternal uncle to her.
The “Echo” series also explores Maya Lopez and Fisk’s shared backstory. A new side of Marvel cult villain Kingpin is also shown. He will soon play a bigger role in the MCU and will also be involved in the upcoming series ‘Daredevil: Born Again’. Because this is all very closely related, Daredevil (Charlie Cox) also stops at “Echo”. That aside, the trailer, which is already quite dark and brutal, gives the impression of a particularly dark and brutal MCU chapter.
“Echo”: 2024 on Disney+
“Echo” will be the next MCU series on Disney+ following the impending end of “Loki” Season 2. After it was actually supposed to start almost immediately afterwards, namely at the end of November 2023, it was recently announced that it will be postponed to early 2024. Together with the trailer, a new start date has now been announced. We can stream Marvel’s Echo on Disney+ starting January 10, 2024. Unlike other Marvel series, all five episodes will be released at once.
In addition to Cox, Cox (the Echo actress and the Daredevil star are not related by marriage) and D’Onofrio, ‘Echo’ also stars Chaske Spencer as Henry, Tantoo Cardinal as Chula, ‘Dances with Wolves’ and others. -Stars Graham Greene as Skully, Cody Lightning as Cousin Biscuits, Devery Jacobs as Bonnie and Zahn McClarnon as William Lopez, the heroine’s late father.
