First trailer shown: Start of second season of “House Of The Dragon” confirmed

Hollywood is paralyzed by the strike. But ‘House Of The Dragon’ is one of the big projects that doesn’t suffer from this. Because the series, which was filmed in Europe with a largely British cast, did not fall under Hollywood rules. The second season has been largely recorded as planned and is already in post-production, HBO boss Casey Bloys revealed during a program presentation of the pay-TV channel in New York.

Bloys also confirmed this that the second season of “House Of The Dragon” will be released as planned in the summer of 2024, more precisely “in early summer” and does not have to be postponed like so many other projects at the moment. However, there is no exact start date yet. In Germany, the eight new episodes of the prequel series ‘Game Of Thrones’ are expected to be released in parallel with the American broadcast.

Those present at the presentation were even allowed to take a look at the first trailer of the second season of “House Of The Dragon” – but on the basis that it is forbidden to publish what can be seen in it. So far there is neither the trailer online nor a description. It is not yet known when a trailer will be released to the general public. But it could happen soon. The first preview of the first season was in October 2021, although the series didn’t start until the summer of the following year (August 2022 to be precise).

Fewer episodes for season 2!

The second season will continue the events of the opening season, but there will also be a major change. This time, fans will see a little less of the world of Westeros, invented and developed by George RR Martin. Because ‘House Of The Dragon: Season 2’ will ‘only’ consist of eight episodes. The opening season was told in ten episodes.

On the other hand, there are many acquaintances in front of the camera. Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy will of course return as Daemon and Rhaenyra Targaryen. Rhys Ifans as Ser Otto Hightower, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon and Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower are also back.

A house from Westeros will also play a role in the second season, which fans sorely missed in the opening season. Neds Stark’s ancestor Cregan Stark expands the previous figure tableau, among other things. The cast for the new role has already been announced:
