At least that’s what Damien Leone promised a while ago. And after ‘Terrifier’ he proved that the filmmaker not only speaks loudly, but also ultimately keeps his word. While Part 1 told virtually no story and was ultimately reduced to just one or two splash moments, the sequel is almost an hour (!) longer – and not only tells something like a story, but also offers a lot more show value for gorehounds. making the film one of the most brutal films of recent years.
Back in June, Leone confirmed that the next step should come in “Terrifier 3”. “I cannot disappoint the fans of the franchise,” was the motto at the time, especially with regard to the seriousness of the films, which demanded a lot from their audience. And now there is one first poster for “Terrifier 3”which sets the mood for another particularly crazy, sprawling battle record:
Producer Steve Barton shared a snapshot of the poster to get you in the mood for the US re-release of “Terrifier 2.” When it returns to theaters in early November, the gruesome, bloody holiday painting will be available to the public in a strictly limited edition to get audiences in the mood for the third film coming out next year. At the same time, a first teaser for part 3 will also premiere during these screenings.
That the film is supposed to be “the scariest and darkest part,” as Leone also revealed in June, is clear from the poster. After all, it shows not only the sadistic manner of the clown, but also some of his subsequent victims: while some of them have apparently been made into Christmas tree decorations (and thus reminiscent of the slasher “Black Christmas”), Santa Claus himself seems special to have been in bad shape to have met. Part 1 is also available, but only in the harmless FSK 18 version.
Especially given the intense peaks, it is surprising that you can currently have the film delivered completely uncut and free of charge. Gorehounds with a soft spot for practical splash effects should definitely take a look – because it is absolutely noticeable in the film that Leone is also a make-up artist. And an extremely talented one at that. However, those who are scared and can’t see blood should give the shocker a wide berth.
Ultimately, part 2 is “bloodier, more colorful and much more competently staged” than its predecessor, as the FILMSTARTS review says, among others. Because there is still a lot of room for improvement in terms of content, it ultimately received a solid 3 out of 5 possible stars.
