4K TV with Ambilight for the best price on Amazon: this Philips OLED plays in the same league as LG, Samsung and Sony

With many modern 4K televisions you have to choose: HDR10+ or ​​Dolby Vision. Not so with Philips OLED-808: The mid-range model supports both HDR formats, making it ideal for streaming fans who use many services.

Amazon is currently offering you more than 300 euros discount on the Philips OLED 808 with 65 inches (164 centimeters). In the end you just pay 1,763.87 euros. According to Geizhals, 4K television of this size has never been so affordable. At MediaMarkt and Saturn you currently pay 2,099 euros.

Philips OLED 808: The Ambilight TV can do that

The Philips OLED 808 is different from many televisions. The first thing that comes to mind is of course the atmospheric, three-sided Ambilight which projects the colors of the screen onto the back wall. This creates an optical extension of the panel, which creates a very special flair.

The photo thanks 120 Hz and OLED-EX technology very good work and impresses with two HDR formats supported. The contrast values ​​are high, the 4K TV provides deep black tones and clear HDR effects. When it comes to peak brightness, the Philips OLED 808 comes close to the values ​​of 806 candela per square meter LG OLED C3* (827 cd/m²).

Gaming with Dolby Vision

Game fans can look forward to many exciting features such as ALLM and VRR with the OLED 808. The low input lag is particularly noticeable. The Philips TV also supports Gaming with Dolby Vision, resulting in an even better image. The sound is okay thanks to the visible woofers, but cannot compete with a soundbar and a subwoofer.

For the rest, the OLED 808 offers everything a modern 4K television should have. Of Android TV All apps run smoothly. There is even an alarm function with Ambilight and a headphone connection. You will only look in vain for a dual tuner and a USB recording function. In addition, the settings in the menus are somewhat complicated, as is typical for Philips, but significantly better than with previous models.

Samsung S90C: the cheaper and brighter alternative

A cheap alternative with 65 inches is the Samsung S90Cwhich is currently available at MediaMarkt for only 1,349 euros thanks to 250 euros cashback.

The Samsung S90C offers a slightly better image than the Philips OLED 808. Especially in terms of equipment Maximum brightness and anti-reflection The Philips can’t keep up. However, the Samsung TV only supports HDR10+ and not Dolby Vision. Ambilight should also be avoided. If you don’t value this, you can save more than 400 euros with the S90C compared to the Philips.
