She is said to have gained her freedom through persuasion and discussions about her faith.
After Morin was caught and behind bars, he started contacting Palm and sending her Christmas cards. A kind of friendship eventually developed between Morin and Plam until his execution in 1985. while his mother visited him in prison a total of fifteen times. Morin is even said to have converted to Christianity after his conviction.
