The glory days of ‘rabbits without ears’ and ‘honey in the head’ are a thing of the past. In fact, Til Schweiger has occasionally had huge flops in recent years. With “Manta Manta – Second Part”, the German superstar managed to make the box office ring again this year – and even beat the first part from 1991 at the box office.
If “The best has yet to come!“, the new film by and starring Til Schweiger, will also attract an audience of millions, as we will notice from December 7, when the tragicomedy premieres in German cinemas. “The Best is Yet to Come!” is a remake of the French film “The Best is Yet to Come – La meilleur reste à venir” by Alexandre De La Patellièe and Matthieu Delaporte. At the center of the action are Arthur (Michael Maertens) and Felix (Til Schweiger), two best friends who couldn’t be more different from each other. While one is a pedantic bourgeois, the other lives on the fast track and enjoys every day as if it were his last.
To help his almost penniless friend, Arthur lends him his medical card for an examination at the hospital and discovers that Felix is terminally ill. But because Arthur doesn’t have the heart to tell Felix the truth, he becomes entangled in a web of lies. Ultimately, Felix thinks his best friend is dying. And so the terminally ill person begins to care for the perfectly healthy person.
While Til Schweiger and Michael Maertens star in the lead roles, the film also stars Heino Ferch (“Downfall”), Peter Simonischek (“Toni Erdmann”), Tim Oliver Schultz (“The Red Ribbon Club”) and Neda Rahmanian (“ Ponyheart”). “) to see in front of the camera. While Til Schweiger is responsible for directing, Maggie Peren (“The Passport Forgers”, “This Stupid Heart”) provided the script.
