It’s probably the defining film genre of the 21st century so far: superhero blockbusters or comic book movies. One of the greats in the industry is undoubtedly Disney. The mouse studio made the stunning success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe possible with its acquisition of Marvel Entertainment in 2009. The meeting of the superheroes in “The Marvels”, which will be shown in German cinemas on November 8, 2023, is already taking place 33 (!) MCU moviecoming to cinemas worldwide. “We’ve Barely Scratched the Surface”
In a recently published interview with Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios and mastermind of the MCU, revealed that there was still a lot to explore and untapped potential in the Marvel Comics Universe:
Will there be a soft reboot?
It sounds like the MCU and new superhero stories will be relied on in the future. The signs currently point to a soft reboot: in the podcast Knowledgeable Marvel insider Joanna Robinson recently explained that the next “Avengers” films could be implemented as a kind of soft reboot:
In an age of multiverses, such a soft restart would be easy to implement. Films such as ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’ have already shown in the past that exciting Avengers-like groups also exist in other realities. This would make it easy to recast popular characters like Iron Man or Black Widow without stars like Robert Downey Jr. & Co. having to ask for the camera again.
