Paola Jaramillo, Queen of Pinta’o Hats

Paola Milagros Jaramillo Vergara is a young woman from Cocles who has been living one of her dreams these past few months: to be the queen of the XI edition of the Pinta’o National Hat Festival.

With a smile, Jaramillo Vergara (24) says that this was a great experience and that she can’t wait for October 20 when she will be crowned as the sovereign of this traditional festival.

She studied law and Political sciencesand currently works in Judicial power.

The young woman says that she felt from a young age passion for his folklore and therefore she is very proud to represent craftsmen from Pinta’o hat.

“It makes me very happy and very proud to be able to promote Pinta’o Sombrero as such, so that it becomes known both nationally and internationally…” she expressed in La Pintada park.

“We know that it is a very valuable jewel (hat) and it is a work that should be appreciated so that all craftsmen can have it in our festival more than anything, more money,” continued the beauty in a stylized green chintz dress.

The sovereign He remembered that the gala was his coronation It will be held on Friday, October 20.

He also reminded that the program of this festival, in three days, is very extensive.

It will be competitions making this a national gema unique piece of clothing.

Furthermore, they will have folklore performances during each day.

It is ideal to highlight the work of making a hat, which is very delicate.

Jaramillo Vergara reminded that the price of this “national jewel” will depend on the size of the hat. The more you turn, the finer it is.

The craftsmen are ready to show this garment, which is declared as Intangible cultural heritage of humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
