Sebastian Fitzek is probably the best known and most successful crime writer in Germany. Whenever the Berlin writer publishes a novel, you can be sure that it will become an instant bestseller. It is therefore not surprising that his books are also made into films (for example ‘Abschnitt’ with Moritz Bleibtreu and Lars Eidinger) or for the serial market.

At the center of the action is psychiatrist Viktor Larenz (Stephan Kampwirth). He has come to the end of his strength after his 13-year-old daughter Josy (Helena Zengel) disappeared under mysterious circumstances two years ago. There are no witnesses, no clues and no body. Viktor then decides to retreat to a holiday home in the wilderness. But instead of getting over the loss, he remains stuck in his pain.
The man isolates himself more and more from the outside world until a woman he does not know (Emma Bading) appears at his door and asks for psychiatric care. It is planned by mysterious delusions that are disturbingly reminiscent of Josy’s disappearance. Are their visions just fantasies or is there a spark of reality hidden in the chaos of thoughts? The therapy sessions turn into a search for the truth.
“Sebastian Fitzek’s The Therapy” stars Stephan Kampwirth (“Blackout”), Helena Zengler (“System Sprenger”), Trystan Pütter (“The Flying Classroom”), Emma Bading (“Dear Thomas”) and Andrea Osvart (“The Diplomat ” ) “providing a top-class cast in front of the camera. The whole thing was directed by Thor Freundethal (“Carnival Row”) and Iván Sáinz-Pardo (“Ainhoa”). Alexander Rümelin (“Lindenberg!”), Don Bohlinger (“The Experiment”) and Christian Limmer (“Oktoberfest 1900”) are responsible for the script.
