“Daredevil: Born Again”: Marvel throws half of a crazy series out the window and starts all over again!

“Daredevil: Born Again” will be one of the big new series projects for Marvel and Disney+. The reboot, which follows the series “Marvel’s Daredevil” that previously ran on Netflix, is planned for a total of 18 episodes, to be shot over a period of 11 months starting this year. However, halfway through, the writers’ and actors’ strike in Hollywood intervened and filming had to be interrupted. However, this gave Disney and Marvel enough time to look at the previous material in peace – and the result was apparently not satisfactory.

As reported, both became the two lead authors Chris Ord And Matt Korman fired from the series, as well as the directors intended for the episodes that had not yet been filmed. Instead, the search is currently underway for a new creative team to completely revitalize the superhero series. Chris Ord and Matt Corman are still credited only as executive producers. If at all, only individual scenes and elements of material already shot may be used.

“Daredevil: Born Again” will likely arrive later than planned

Aside from the financial fiasco this decision will likely cause for Disney and Marvel, fans should also be prepared that it will now take even longer than planned before we see ‘Daredevil: Born Again’.

Although filming cannot continue at the moment anyway because no agreement has yet been reached on the actors’ strike, A new team of writers and directors must first come together and starts the creative rebirth of the superhero played by Charlie Cox.

Marvel wants to return to traditional series development

How supposed, these decisions go with structural changes at Marvel by. In recent years, the hitmaker has deviated quite far from the traditional way of working on series development, as manifested in the US, especially in the television sector. Instead of shooting pilot episodes first and then deciding whether a series had potential or how it could be continued, entire seasons were commissioned directly and requests for changes were ironed out during reshoots or in post-production. The fact that the series’ quality has suffered in recent years is reflected in Marvel fans and critics alike.

Furthermore, both the Marvel films and the Marvel series have thus far been developed under the same umbrella, rather than using separate teams for the categories and giving them their undivided attention. That should also change now. With this, Marvel is taking a step back to traditional series development, with showrunners and executive producers for its own TV division. We can’t wait to see what this means for Daredevil: Born Again, as well as other upcoming Marvel productions. Series like ‘Echo’ and ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’ are in the pipeline for 2024.
