There are walking routes suitable for everyone, whether families, advanced walkers or trail runners. Circular hiking trails, where the starting point of the trip is also the ending point, are particularly beautiful. The beautiful Hochhamm circular hiking trail is located in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, with its peak at 1,275 meters above sea level. The hike here is also suitable for families who love hiking. The route passes through meadows, forests and mountain ridges, and there are many fire pits for picnics along the way. When the weather is nice, you can also stop and relax at the Hochhamm mountain restaurant, which extends all the way to Lake Constance, and enjoy the magnificent view from the terrace.

Another recommended circular walk is Le Rochers de Tabletes in the canton of Neuchâtel. The route starts and ends in idyllic Rochefort NE and ascends with a gentle incline to the summit of Les Tabletes, 1291 meters above sea level. There you get views of the surrounding mountain landscape, the Areuse Valley and Lake Neuchâtel. The rock faces on the south side of the mountain are particularly impressive.

Niderbaren Chulm is a pleasant, circular walking trail for young and old, located in the canton of Nidwalden. The route starts after the cable car ride at Niedermachen mountain station. If you prefer to walk instead of the cable car, you can walk the 2-kilometer route in addition to the circular walk. The hiking trail is easy to walk but requires moderate fitness to reach the summit, which is 1,923 meters above sea level. The side of the mountain is partly rocky and steeply sloping, but the view of the depths is wonderful.

This circular walk in Ticino begins with an important event: from Piotta TI to Piora TI you ride one of the steepest funiculars in the world. Then the main hike begins, which is also possible for less experienced hikers and initially passes through the forests. When you reach the summit of Föisc, 2208 meters above sea level, if the weather is good, you can admire the distant Bedretto Valley glaciers, the Gotthard massif and the Rheinwaldhorn. The route to the Ritom cable car passes through a hiking trail on the north side.

The Mittaghorn-Saas-Fee circular walk in Valais is extremely challenging and not suitable for beginners. Anyone who masters this route will be rewarded with a breathtaking panorama. The starting point is the Morenia mountain station, easily reached by Saas-Fee VS’s cable car Alpin Express. From there you hike up the western ridge of Mittaghorn and eventually reach the Via Ferrata, which leads to the summit (3143 meters above sea level). What is important is not only the required fitness level but also equipment such as helmet, gloves and climbing belt. A steep road leads back to Saas-Fee VS.
