‘Gen V’ Episode 4 Explained: Does the Ending Reveal a New Villain?

That came as a surprise! Just as episode 4 of The Boys: Gen V climaxes in the big showdown as Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Andre (Chance Perdomo), Jordan (London Thor / Derek Luh), Cate (Maddie Phillips) and Emma (Lizze Broadway ) try to stop Sam (Asa Germann) from killing The Woods’ doctor, Dr. The killing of Sadosa (Marco Pigossi) brings the whole thing to an abrupt and premature end.

After Emma, who has grown to XXL size, pins Sam to the ground, Marie wants to assure Sam that they will help and protect him – and is interrupted mid-sentence by a sudden cut. The screen goes black and we see a confused Marie suddenly wake up naked in bed next to Jordan. What exactly happened? The actual resolution probably won’t come until the next “Gen V” episode, but some theories still emerge at the end…

Is Cate secretly working for The Woods…

How the events surrounding Sam developed were not simply left to the public for the time being. As Marie’s reaction after waking up suggests, she is also surprised at how she suddenly ended up in a completely different place. Could Cate and her powers of manipulation have something to do with it? An indication of this could be that there appears to be no trace of Cate when the fight against Sam takes place in the garden behind Dr. Sadosa’s house has moved. So maybe she snuck up on Marie and imposed her will on her to prevent her from saving Sam?

It has long been rumored that Cate harbors a dark secret and may even be somehow involved in The Woods experiments under Godolkin University. She acted strangely on several occasions and always seemed to want to keep her friends from getting to the bottom of the matter. Is there a twist here that reveals Cate as the new villain? In the course of this, however, she would have to enchant the others present in the scene in question – and it’s hard to imagine that she could have done this for everyone at once, at least given everything. we know about her powers so far.

…or is she the heroine here?

If Cate really had something to do with it, it would also be entirely conceivable that there were no malicious intentions behind it. It is possible that, at their request, she deleted Marie and the others’ memories of what happened next to ensure that none of them knew where they were hiding Sam.and thus most likely guarantee his safety.

What they don’t know, they can’t reveal under torture or, for example, during the interrogation of Tek Knight (Derek Wilson) (the young Supes don’t know at the time that the latter was banned from campus).

Maybe Rufus is behind the power outage?

However, the earlier events in the fourth ‘Gen V’ episode also lead to a very different conclusion. So instead of Cate, the telepath Rufus (Alexander Calvert) are behind Marie’s blackout. Earlier in the episode, we saw Marie finally sit down next to him and then suddenly wake up in his room with him standing naked in front of her, not knowing how she got there.

In fact, a similar sound effect can be heard in both scene changes, which could support this theory. Thanks to his skills, it would be easy for Rufus to track down Marie. Maybe he’s been following her for a while to get revenge on her for making his penis explode.

On power

What needs to be clarified is whether Marie and Co. have suddenly been teleported from one place to another or that something has actually happened in the meantime that they have forgotten. Marie’s facial expression in the last scene and the fact that she is no longer wearing any clothes indicate the latter.

However, teleportation may have played a role in the rapid change of scenery, potentially bringing an unknown third party with such an ability into play. Unless Rufus and/or Cate can do this too, although this hasn’t been explicitly discussed yet (in one of the “Gen V” trailers you could see Cate apparently being teleported off a couch, although it looks more likely if she was there not responsible for this).

In a week we will be smarter: The fifth “Gen V“The episode will be released on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, October 13, 2023.
