Panamanians won the prize in Guatemala

Six students from the University of Technology of Panama (UTP) have left the country in high esteem after winning an award in Guatemala.

This group received the Most Outstanding Chapter Award at the Central American-Panama Student Convention, CONESCAPAN Edition 40, an event organized by the country’s Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Section.

Eduardo Carrera, Angélica Stanziola, Juan Rodríguez, Luis Mendoza, Manuel Ceron and Cristal Cáceres make up the awarded delegation.

Representation Panama which traveled to Guatemalan soil consisted of 25 engineering students accompanied by two professions.

Besides that UTP students from University of Panama (UP), University of the Americas (UDELAS) and Latin Universities of Panama (ULATINA) who presented five “papers” and “posters” summarizing research conducted in the fields of: robotics, energy, electronics, computer systems, telecommunications and biomedical engineering.

Panamanians in Guatemala They presented the following “papers”:

Design and construction of a radar prototype using Raspberry Pico and MicroPython, author Manuel Ceron from UTP.

100W Solar Tracker with Arduino MKR1000 (Preliminary Results) by Agustín Orro UP.

Design and prototype of a low-cost autonomous vehicle, for Eduardo Carrera of UTP.

Improving flow control in electro-pneumatic lung ventilators: PID control systems versus fuzzy logic, Issa Griffith and Lina González, from UDELAS.

Dose estimation by radiographic image processing using MATLAB for possible integration in the pretreatment phase in thyroid scintigraphy using radioactive iodine I-131, for Melissa Sánchez and Víctor Santamaría from ULATINA.

They showed the “posters”:

It proposes an algorithm that predicts a heart attack based on medical history, for Seidy Gordon from ULATINA.

For example, updating the control system of an articulated robotic arm using a low-spec computer Kelvin Kung from UTP.

According to the definition of a low-cost search and rescue robotic architecture, for Yenikarina Salazar and Oscar Andres Ramos from UP.

Understand the experience of teaching programming logic to children, aged eight to ten, using, for example, playful strategies. UP’s Jennifer Arcia.
