It started as a joke between filmmakers about the double feature ‘Grindhouse’ by directors Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. Their B-movie horror project consisted of ‘Death Proof’ and ‘Planet Terror’ – and in the style of classic grindhouse cinema, there were some messy trailers shown before the films were shown. The special thing: these were fake trailers for films that should never have been made.
However, that has now changed, because ‘Machete’ was made in 2010 by Ethan Maniquis and Robert Rodriguez – of course with the star of the trailer, Danny Trejo, in the leading role. ‘Hobo With A Shotgun’ followed in 2011 with Rutger Hauer, who takes the law into his own hands. Of “ThanksgivingAnother film is now coming to theaters that has its roots in the funny B-movie horror trailers of the doppelgänger “Gindhouse”.
The trailer we have attached for you above promises a bloody spectacle in the style of holiday slashers like “Halloween” or even “Black Christmas“, Only this time the killer does not intend to cause mischief dressed as Santa Claus, but as a masked founder – who sometimes prepares his victims like a roast turkey. After all, even a crazed killer has to get into the holiday spirit somehow.
And that’s what Thanksgiving is about
Plymouth, Massachusetts, is considered the birthplace of the Thanksgiving tradition that is still celebrated in the United States today. Every year, Thanksgiving is celebrated here in a particularly lavish manner. But on Black Friday (as the Friday after Thanksgiving is called), a tragic accident occurs.
A year later, the quiet town is hit by a terrible series of murders, which appear to have been caused by a murderer disguised as a pilgrim father. As the sheriff (“Grey’s Anatomy” star Patrick Dempsey) tries to put an end to the brutal acts, one victim after another is hunted by the violent criminal in disguise.
Eli Roth, director of “Hostel” and “Cabin Fever,” helmed the project. “Thanksgiving” will be released in German cinemas on November 16, 2023.
