Cinema: What are the preferences of Panamanians?

Cinema is still one of the main forms of entertainment for Panamanians, people between the ages of 25 and 34 are the ones who most often enjoy the seventh art, one of the many artistic expressions that have marked culture and society.

Going to the cinema offers a complete experience, enjoyment, thinking and fun, Therefore, the research of the Target Group Index (TGI), Kantar IBOPE Media, revealed the interests of Panamanians in terms of the seventh art.

According to the collected data, 560 thousand people went to the cinema at least once in the last 30 days, and action or adventure (67.1%) is the most popular movie genre in Panama.

Second, there is science fiction or fantasy 37.8% and in third place comedy with 36.5%, but that’s not all, right behind it are genres like animation with 34.4% and thrillers with 20.2%.

The rest of the list is completed by genres such as Romantic comedies (15.2%), family (13%), children’s or cartoons (12.7) and drama (12.3%).

As for the age groups, in addition persons aged 25 to 34who are most happy to go to the cinema are: 45 years and over (20.9%), 12 to 17 years (19.8%), 35 to 44 years (19.3%) and 18 to 24 years (16.8%) ).

On the other hand, the method of distribution movies has changed since streaming came on the scene, but that hasn’t caused people to stop going to the movies.

Panamanians who watch the content of the platform are very interested in enjoying the cinema experience.

Cinema culture also brings its fans, in this case film buffs who are people who go to the cinema most often, between one and three times a month.

Panamanians who see content from the platforms are high He likes to enjoy the cinema experience, 39% of those who enjoy this experience also watch Netflix, while 19% Disney+ and 17% HBO Max and Amazon Prime Video simultaneously.

These fans of the seventh art are those who go to the cinema often, between one and three times a month, and in general advertisements influence their purchasing decisions and trust television to inform them.
