The winery gained worldwide fame with its red Bordeaux wine of 2009, which was awarded the maximum 100 points by American wine critic Robert Parker (76). Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a 72-hectare Bordeaux winery, produces red wine as well as white wine, which consists almost 100 percent of Sauvignon blanc.

The roots of the vines sometimes extend as deep as six feet into the soil. While fertilization is done only with organic compost, horses are also used in the vineyards. Before the valuable wines are sold, they are stored for more than a year in French oak barrels from the company’s cooperative.
