It’s no secret: Christopher Nolan loves James Bond and would like to direct a 007 adventure for the cinema. But it is also known: he wants the greatest possible freedom in all his projects – and not only creatively, but also in business decisions such as the advertising campaign, the cinema release date or the time until a home theater release. That is exactly what does not fit at all with the more than 60 year old film series about the world’s most famous double-zero agent. Powerful producer Barbara Broccoli is in charge here. Until now, directors were allowed to contribute within certain limits for one or perhaps a second film, but then the next man took his place in the director’s chair.
But the insiders of now report that in the past they have heard from a very reliable source, that negotiations are taking place between Nolan and Broccoli. But there are still differences. It’s about, among other things, how much creative freedom the director of ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘The Dark Knight’ gets. But the point is that Nolan is the defining voice of the near James Bond future, completely at odds with the series’ previous approach.
Nolan on Bond: not a single director, but an architect of an era?
According to the sources of see current discussions, that Christopher Nolan will make two (!) James Bond films with Daniel Craig’s 007 successor. He will write and direct the scripts himself. After that he no longer says goodbye, but remains involved.
In this way he must continue to guide the era that he ushered in as the seventh 007 actor. Accordingly, the current negotiations proceed that after two directorial works, Nolan would become the producer of all further installments with Bond star No. 7. In this way, he must then ensure that other screenwriters and directors follow him, who will continue to pursue his ideas and tell them in his mind.
Even in the Daniel Craig era, there was some sort of coherent story. But it wasn’t really planned that way, but was built up bit by bit – with many distortions and changes. As the mastermind behind a series, Nolan could ensure that the next block of 007 films are more connected.
The so-called bottlenecks: not just control, but a new revolution?

How much later – there could well be disagreements with Nolan, who wants to keep his films exclusively in cinemas for as long as possible.

However, there would already be an agreement in the search for actors. This has been the case for a long time Aaron Taylor Johnson (“Bullet Train”, “Kick-Ass”) as Barbara Broccoli’s favorite. Christopher Nolan, who already worked with the actor on ‘Tenet’, was also impressed by the idea.
