The III congress of education and museums will be held in October

Everything is ready for the third edition Congress of Education and Museums to be held in Panama next month.

Under the motto “Open museum, transformation and innovation”, this manifestation will take place on October 2 and 3. in the Marriott Hotel in Albrook and on October 4 in the City of Knowledge.

The congress will be a space dedicated to the professionalization of those who work and cooperate with more than 60 museum institutions that work to preserve the national tangible and intangible heritage.

The content is divided into four thematic units: “Museums and citizenship”, “Digital strategies”, “Conservation and restoration” and “Organizational synergies”.

Each of them has an international guest in charge of the main presentation or a forum where different experiences on the same topic can be heard.

In addition, experts or local institutions can participate with presentations and to cry of academics within the indicated topics.

In this way, the Panamanian context is taken into account to offer opportunities for dialogue and reflection within a pragmatic scheme that understands our reality and improves it with the contribution of local and international actors.

Presentations

In case of “Museums and citizenship” We are joined by Dr. Leticia Pérez Castellanos, from Mexico. Castellanos is a researcher at the post-graduate studies in museology at the National School of Conservation, Restoration and Museography (ENCRyM-INAH, Mexico), where she earned a master’s degree in museology. He is a doctoral candidate in anthropological sciences at the Metropolitan Autonomous University – Iztapalapa.

Digital strategies brings as guests Dr. Ana Martí Testón, from Spain, who will address technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, digitization or virtual experiences that can be excellent allies for museums.

Conservation and restoration It is in charge of Sofia Lobo, from Portugalwho will talk about himpreventive conservation as a management instrument for saving important costs in the medium and long term, and inoculates us against irreparable losses of the heritage we preserve and investment in exhibitions.

The session of Organizational synergieswill speak from the tribune where the representatives are participating Ibermuseos, from the Association of Caribbean Museumsfrom the Science Museum of Trento (Italy), the Chotin Initiative of Curators from Latin America and the Network of Museums and Digital Strategies, together with the Panama Network.
