Cheese is a good source of protein and calcium and is part of a successful dinner for many people. But be careful: too much cheese can harm the body.

It is often said that avoiding fatty products such as cheese reduces the risk of heart attack. High fat content also means high cholesterol content. However, not all high-fat products mean that our health is deteriorating.

For example, eating cheese may even improve health in some cases. We have selected some types of cheese that are not only tolerable if you have high cholesterol, but may also help lower cholesterol levels.

How does cholesterol work?

Cholesterol is a fat-like, water-insoluble substance and is an essential raw material for the human body. It plays a role in the formation of some vitamins and hormones and is an important component of all cell walls. We have a certain amount of cholesterol in our body, but the other part we can influence comes from high-fat foods.

Cholesterol is produced in the liver and from there is transported through the blood to the individual cells of all organs and to the tissue where it is further processed. Excess cholesterol returns through the blood to the liver, where the whole process begins again.

7 Types of Cheese That Positively Affect Cholesterol Level:

Now let’s get to the bottom of it: Which type of cheese will my cholesterol love as much as my taste buds?

1. Crescenza/Stracchino

Cholesterol content: 53 mg per 100 g

2. Feta cheese

Cholesterol content: 68 mg per 100 g

Greek pickled cheese is rich in easily digestible proteins and also contains many minerals such as phosphorus and calcium. However, caution is advised for people with high blood pressure: feta cheese contains sodium, which, together with chloride, increases blood pressure.

3. Ricotta

Cholesterol content: 52 mg per 100 g

No more than two servings per week is recommended to meet ideal protein needs.

4. Gorgonzola

Although this moldy cheese is thought to be high in fat, it contains less cholesterol than chicken wings of the same weight. Gorgonzola contains the substance penicillium, which not only gives the cheese its green color but also makes it extremely easy to digest. Enjoying it occasionally is part of a healthy, balanced diet.
