Panamanian films to compete in Guatemala

10 films that will represent the country in competence American festival Icaro International Festival in Guatemala.

The selection jury was made up of the production company Ana Xochitl Alarcón (Costa Rica), director Jeico Castro (Panama) and film critic Rainer Tuñón (Panama), who watched 19 submitted films.

The experts selected 10 productions, between short and feature films, from different film genres.

The selected films are: short animated, ““Mao Lucky”, Luis Carlos Caballero; short documentary, “1989″, written by Massiel Robles; long documentaries”Chuchu” and “General”, Joaquín Horna Dolanda and “Nación de Titanes”, Joaquín Horna Sosa; short feature film, “Remember”, by Alberta Serra; ““That doesn’t rhyme”Roberto Villafañe and “In the air”, Roberto Thomas-Díaz and the feature film, “Cumpleañero,” by Arturo Montenegro; “Sister and Sister”, by Kathie Zuniga and “El Panzer is calling me”, by Rodrigo Quintero.

Some of the selected films will also be a part programming of the 16th Ícaro Panama Film Festival 2023to be held from October 2 to 7 in the city.

The activity will take place in the University Cinema, and from the 9th to the 13th of the same month in different venues in David, Puerto Armuelles, Changuinola and Almirante.

The domestic audience will be offered a selection of the best Central American productions and international films that were awarded in the previous version of Icaro Internacional, along with training activities for filmmakers on the terrace.
