Like every Sunday, we give you a quick overview of what’s coming to Netflix next week. Interesting titles have already been announced every day – from children’s series to Netflix original films of different genres to purchased Hollywood dishes and a highlight for cooking enthusiasts. Above all, there is the finale of one of the best Netflix series.
As always, we present you the titles we have selected that are of particular interest to you – sorted by day of the week. It is not a complete overview of all films and series, especially because Netflix often includes titles spontaneously and without prior notice. But enough about the introduction. Here are the Netflix highlights for September 18-24, 2023:
Monday: New Adventures of Equestria
The week starts with content for the little ones. The animated series for children “My Little Pony – With hoof and heart“ is already in the fifth chapter. In the new story, Zupp, Sunny, Izzy, Pipp and Hitch must embark on a series of adventures in their magical kingdom of Equestria.
Tuesday: A super intelligence wants to wipe us out
Tuesday is all about a purchased Hollywood action rom-com: “Superintelligence“ was virtually lost at the box office due to a release in the middle of the corona pandemic. Maybe Netflix will now see more attention for Melissa McCarthy’s battle against a megalomaniacal artificial intelligence voiced by James Corden? Unfortunately, we cannot recommend that you take a look. In our 1.5-star review, our colleague Oliver Kube also criticized many unfunny filler scenes.
Wednesday: More from the super-rich murder family
The series shocked people early this year “The Murdaugh Murders: Scandal in the Southern States“ There are already countless true crime fans on Netflix. But the story of the influential, powerful and extremely wealthy family with a lot of dirt on their hands has not yet been told. There will be a second season from Wednesday.
Thursday: Farewell to a highlight of the series
The time has come. One of the most popular and, for many, best Netflix Original series is coming to an end. The fourth and final season starts on Thursday “Sex education“ – with major changes. It’s going to a new school. And Otis (Asa Butterfield) has to contend with the fact that his girlfriend Maeve (Emma Mackey) now lives on another continent…
Friday: Netflix Originals from Robert Rodriguez and more
Netflix is releasing several original films on Friday. Of “Spy Kids: Armaggeddon“ Cult director Robert Rodriguez can now continue his beloved spy series on Netflix. When new kids save the world, there are also plenty of Hollywood celebrities on hand – including ‘Shazam’ Zachary Levi and his superhero colleague DJ Cotrona, Billy Magnussen (‘Aladdin’) and ‘Jane The Virgin’ star Gina Rodriguez.
Meanwhile, romance lovers will find out in the sequel “Single and wanted 2“, what Peruvian blogger María Fe experiences when she falls in love again while suffering from writer’s block. The film promises some rather dark fare “The Black Book“ about a priest who wants revenge after the death of his son and fights the Nigerian drug mafia and the corrupt police.
In the meantime, series fans can drop by “Song of the bandits“ at their expense – at least if they like epic battles and a fight for freedom. This is what the Korean series promises, which is staged with many Western elements and is set during the Japanese occupation of the country at the beginning of the 20th century.
Saturday: Spectacle cinema
While the day before was dominated by new Netflix original films, this weekend will once again see Hollywood fare that was somewhat lost in cinemas during the corona pandemic. But unlike “Superintelligence” on Tuesday, we can also recommend it this time. “In The Heights” is a truly exciting adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hit musical. There are 4 stars in Jochen Werner’s FILMSTARTS review for the “enchanting, two and a half hour film spectacle”.
Sunday: secrets of Korean cuisine
Netflix has already celebrated success with many Korean series and Korean cuisine is also extremely popular. Why not combine both? Netflix has already thought about this in the past and has already introduced us to dishes from Korea with series such as ‘A Nation of Kimchi’ and ‘A Nation of Soups’. In the new documentary series “A Banchan Nation” The focus now – as the title suggests – is on the vegetable side dishes, which are usually served in small bowls together with boiled rice and are an integral part of a real Korean menu.
