The horror answer to ‘Superman’ is getting a sequel after all

“Brightburn” was the answer to the question of what would have happened if Clark Kent, aka Superman, had not been such a Good Samaritan and had instead developed a destructive desire to kill. The ending of the James Gunn-produced superhero horror film was especially tough, because instead of a happy ending there was a truly devastating finale: Brandon (Jackson A. Dunn), who is equipped with super powers, coldly kills his foster mother Tori ( Elizabeth Banks) by dropping her from a great height to the ground and shattering her.

Although things have been very quiet lately about a possible sequel to “Brightburn,” things seem to be moving again. According to a report from founded the production company who had produced the superhero shocker at the time, founded a new subsidiary studio called . They plan to “integrate new technologies into the production process of projects currently in development.” A sequel to ‘Brightburn’ is probably being worked on, among other things.

This technology includes the use of artificial intelligence, the capabilities of Metaverse and Web3. The use of artificial intelligence and similar technologies is especially crucial in the creative industries, but the company assures that it strives to “respect professionals and fans while promoting responsible technology integration.”

What would ‘Brightburn 2’ be about?

It is not yet known what ‘Brightburn 2’ could be about, but in addition to sufficient destruction, the end credits montage also contains a first hint about the possible protagonists of a second part. Conspiracy theorist The Big T (Michael Rooker) introduces a number of strange creatures who, along with the Anti-Superman, are currently wreaking havoc on Earth. Could we possibly be dealing with some evil Justice League in a possible sequel?

It is currently unknown when “Brightburn 2” will hit theaters. Since the project is apparently still in the early stages of development, we don’t expect a theatrical release before 2025.

When the first part appeared in theaters, we asked director David Yarovesky in an interview what a sequel could be about:
