New boss appointed: NASA wants to advance UFO research

NASA boss Bill Nelson said at a press conference in Washington on Thursday that this was done on the recommendation of a special group of NASA experts and that a report from this group was also presented.

Nelson said the main finding of the report is that there is more to learn. The expert group found no evidence that the studied UAP had “extraterrestrial origins.” “But we don’t know what these UAPs are,” Nelson continued.

In their report, experts emphasize that NASA has various tools and is developing new tools to observe the earth and space. The space agency also has “an extensive archive of historical and current datasets.” This way NASA can check whether certain environmental conditions in the Earth’s atmosphere are associated with UFO sightings, for example.

Experts write that NASA’s involvement in the investigation of UFO sightings will also help dispel the negative reputation of the reports by the public. “NASA’s participation in UAP will play an extremely important role in reducing the stigma surrounding UAP reports.”

According to NASA, the report was agreed with the US government but is independent of the relevant work of the US Department of Defense and secret services. At its first public meeting at the end of May, the NASA expert group argued in favor of more and better data on observations of unidentified objects.

In recent years, the Pentagon has reported that dozens of celestial events over the past two decades have no explanation, but also no evidence of secret technology or extraterrestrial life from other countries.
