The golden age of streaming services is over, if it ever was: Netflix has introduced ad-supported subscription and is taking action against so-called password sharing, Disney+ is removing titles from its library, and there is no such thing as original or exclusive. Trust more (the latter is not necessarily new, however). This can now also be seen in one of the oldest original series on Amazon Prime Video, which will soon not only disappear from the streaming service, but also move to the competition:
“Preacher” premiered in May 2016 on American broadcaster AMC, but was marketed in Germany (and numerous other countries) as “Prime Exclusive,” that is, as an Amazon original. Now, however, the licensing agreement with AMC has apparently expired: All four seasons of ‘Preacher’ will soon disappear from Amazon Prime Video – presumably because they will be available on Netflix from September 30, 2023.
There’s no way to tell from the listing on the streaming service how long ‘Preacher’ will be available on Prime Video, but it is We assume that the series will disappear from Prime Video on September 30, 2023. So if you’ve had ‘Preacher’ on your watchlist for a while and don’t have a Netflix subscription, you should get on itto watch the four seasons with a total of 43 episodes.
It’s definitely worth it – at least if you aren’t put off by graphic violence, crude humor, strange characters and crazy storylines. All four seasons received great reviews that highlighted exactly these qualities of the series, and “Preacher” also landed in the best series of 2017 here at FILMSTARTS and is one of the highest-rated horror series in our community.
