The Rings of Power: This title already suggests that we’ll see the creation of the Rings of Power in the Lord of the Rings series on Amazon Prime Video – and in the Season 1 finale, too. The creation of the rings differs from the work of JRR Tolkien, but in the end Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards), Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Elrond (Robert Aramayo) forge three rings. Tolkien’s famous ring poem already reveals, however, that it was far from all.
But first and foremost: in the finale of “The Rings of Power” we first see the three Elven rings: Nenya (the ring of Adamantine or ring of water), Narya (the ring of fire) and Vilya (the ring of air). In the next photo you can see Nenya below, Vilya at the top left and Narya at the top right:
Galadriel becomes the carrier of Nenya – if you still have “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” in your head: there you will also see the ring of adamant on Galadriel’s finger (played here by Cate Blanchett). Narya Goes To Season 2 Confirmed Círdan (and later to Gandalf) and Vilya is first carried by Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker) and later by Elrond.
Since the Elven Rings are inspired by Sauron/halbrand (Charlie Vickers) but created without his direct involvement, they are largely free of his influence. It is different with the other rings of power, which are yet to be forged.
In the ring is still the poem of “Seven the dwarven rulers in their halls of stone” and “The mortals, forever doomed to death, nine” and of course “One[em] ring to rule them, to bind them all” the speech. So the seven rings of the dwarves, the nine rings of men, and that one ring of Sauron are still missing.
In Tolkien’s works, the three Elven rings are actually forged last and the other rings before. and actually all rings are elf rings – Sauron is the one who hands them out to the humans and dwarves (Except for a ring that Celebrimbor gives to the dwarf ruler Durin III).
That will probably be different in the series. Sauron probably forges not only his master ring here, but also the missing 16 rings for the humans and dwarves and distributes them directly. But it’s also possible that Celebrimbor and Co. forge other, less powerful rings in Season 2 and that they eventually fall into the hands of Sauron.
Now that the secret of Sauron/halbrand is known, that doesn’t seem like a good idea. In addition, Sauron’s influence on the rings, which is necessary for the nine people who wear the rings to become the nine Ringwraiths – the Nazgûl, would probably be missing. And you almost don’t want to be without these iconic figures in “The Rings of Power”.
We’ll probably learn more about this in Season 2 – but it’ll probably be a while before it shows up on Prime Video:
