The non-laughing comedy show ‘LOL: Last One Laughing’ continues to be a huge hit for Amazon Prime Video, which is why it was soon clear after season 4 that a fifth season would continue. However, the waiting times between seasons have unfortunately become longer. While the first three seasons came at six-month intervals, a year has now passed from season to season: “LOL” Season 5 has only been announced for Easter 2024.
But Amazon apparently doesn’t want to let the many fans of its series success fidget for so long and has therefore come up with something special. Like presenter Michael Bully Herbig personally announced in a video, a “LOL” Christmas special awaits us in 2023:
Fittingly enough, Bully revealed the surprise with an obvious nod to one of the most iconic scenes from the modern Christmas classic Love Actually (and yes, that’s actually Walking Dead star Andrew Lincoln in that scene):
What’s in store for us in the “LOL” Christmas special?
There’s no more information on the Christmas special of “LOL: Last One Laughing” than in the announcement video above. It’s still unclear whether the special edition follows exactly the same concept as the actual seasons, which is whether ten entertainment industry personalities are locked in a room for six hours where they have to try to make each other laugh without laughing themselves.
For an event that is inserted between seasons, a shortened version with less playing time and fewer participants would also be conceivable.
Another secret is which celebrities will participate in the Christmas “LOL”.. At least Bully promised that this would be revealed soon. The exact start date for the Christmas period has also yet to be announced, so it remains to be seen whether the special will already sweeten the pre-Christmas period or whether the whole will then be placed under the flowing tree as a gift.
