You could call “Guardians Of The Galaxy” a quality flagship of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even viewers who don’t really know much about the superhero universe of Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow have to admit that James Gunn (“The Suicide Squad”) has staged three really good space adventures with his “Guardians Of The Galaxy” trilogy, which also work independently of the other films in the MCU. Not only the spectacle is present here, the characters are also incredibly approachable.
The fact that you lean behind the characters is of course also largely due to the actors that James Gunn summoned for the camera. In addition to Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and Pom Klementieff and the voice roles of Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, Chris Pratt must of course make a big impression. He embodied Peter Quill aka Star-Lord in all three “Guardians” movies, securing his first major starring role in a Hollywood blockbuster.
Chris Pratt wanted to make children happy
While Chris Pratt should really be taking off after “Guardians Of The Galaxy,” the actor is a long way off. But on the contrary! In an interview with Pratt stressed nine years ago that just being a superhero on the big screen wasn’t enough. Inspired by Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, he decided to swipe his Star Lord costume to please sick kids in hospitals:
“I stole the jacket and part of the wardrobe so that when this movie comes out and does what everyone hopes it does, I can follow Russell Wilson’s example and visit children. […] If the movie was big enough and a kid in the hospital cares about Peter Quill or Star-Lord visiting them, I would.”
With that, Chris Pratt not only proved how much respect he had for the role of Star-Lord aka Peter Quill in “Guardians Of The Galaxy”. Of course, he also recognized the potential of the “Guardians”, who are now among the absolute pinnacles of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and are very dear to millions of people.
