Disney has released four live-action adaptations of classics in the past twelve months: “The Little Mermaid,” “Peter Pan & Wendy,” “Chip and Dale,” and “Pinocchio.”

But Disney is far from stopping, sequels to the live-action movies “The Lion King” and “The Jungle Book” have their start dates in the summer of 2024 and 2026 respectively. “Aladdin” and “Cruella” would both get one must be. second part.

On top of that. Here you will find an overview of which 14 live-action adaptations are also being made at Disney. Since the authors and actors in Hollywood are currently on strike, the release dates that are already known may be pushed back.

Of all the planned Disney remakes, “Snow White” is the most advanced in production. Rachel Zegler plays Snow White and Gal Gadot plays the Evil Queen. Marc Webb, who also wrote “The Amazing Spider-Man,” is directing.

The theatrical release is scheduled for March 21, 2024.

Just a month ago, Disney announced that a live-action adaptation of Bambi was in the works, and Oscar winner Sarah Polley was in the running to direct it.

Photorealistic CGI should be used to depict Bambi and his friends as realistically as possible. Disney has not yet announced a possible launch date.

The cast for the live adaptation of “Lilo & Stitch” has already been announced. Newcomer Maia Kealoha plays Lilo, and Lilo’s sister, Nani, is played by Sydney Elizabeth Agudong. Stitch is brought back to life with CGI. Filming began in May in Hawaii.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the remake will not go to theaters, but will run directly on Disney Plus. The start is planned for the spring of 2024.

In March, Disney announced who will direct the live-action adaptation of ‘The Aristocats’. The choice fell on Questlove (real name: Ahmir Khalib Thompson), the drummer of the band The Roots. He previously directed the documentary Summer of Soul, which won an Oscar for Best Documentary in 2022. «Aristocats» will be his first experience as a feature film director.

Nothing is known about the cast or a possible release date.

Disney is teaming up with Dwayne Johnson to remake “Moana”. Johnson plans to return as Maui, the grandiose demigod of the wind and sea. It is not yet known who will take on the role of Moana.

Moana voice actress Auli’i Cravalho is on board as an executive producer. Also back is screenwriter Jared Bush; he will also write the script (along with Dana Ledoux Miller).

A possible launch date has not yet been announced.

Guy Ritchie will direct the live-action Hercules adaptation. In 2019, he already directed the live-action adaptation of «Aladdin». There is still no information about the cast, although rumors continue to circulate. For example, many fans think that Disney wants Danny Devito as Philoctetes. A start date has not yet been announced.

Stephen Chbosky, author of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, will pen the screenplay for Charming, a retelling of the Cinderella Prince fairy tale.

Details are yet to be announced, but the film will tell the story from the perspective of Prince Charming’s younger, lesser-known brother. There is no release date yet.

A live-action adaptation of “Peter Pan & Wendy” was released in April, and Tinker Bell is now getting its own spin-off. The fairy is played by Reese Witherspoon, who is also involved as a producer. The film takes place at the same time as the Peter Pan story and shows a new perspective on the character.

Tinker Bell is scheduled for March 2025.

First announced in 2019, this remake is a collaboration between David Hoberman and Disney star Josh Gad, the same team that worked on the 2017 remake of Beauty and the Beast.

However, the project is currently on hold. “The Hunchback story involves many real issues that are important and need to be discussed. There must be agreement on how we deal with these problems,” says Alan Menken. He should write the film music.

1963’s “The Witch and the Wizard” is also getting a live-action remake. Game of Thrones writer and producer Bryan Cogman will write the project and Brigham Taylor will produce.

The film will not be in theaters, only on Disney Plus. When that will be is not yet known.

Disney is working on a remake of the 1973 animated musical comedy “Robin Hood” for Disney Plus. As with “The Jungle Book” and “Dumbo”, the animals must also be developed with CGI.

The director is Carlos Lopez Estrada and the screenplay is written by Kari Granlund. Producer is Justin Springer, who previously produced “Dumbo” and “Tron: Legacy” for Disney.

A start date has not yet been announced.

In 2015, Disney announced it was developing a live-action comedy adventure about the ghosts of Aladdin. The film is written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Since then there have been no further updates to this project.

In 2015, Disney announced that it would be remaking “Fantasia”. The new live-action will be based on the “Night on Bald Mountain” segment, which is about a dark winged creature who raises spirits from the dead.

Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless will write the screenplay and also serve as producers. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be similar in style to Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie.

Here, too, there have been no updates on the status of production for eight years.

James and the Giant Peach was first made into a stop-motion film in 1996. Now the story has to be implemented as a real movie, even if there are no new details about the production for years. American Beauty director Sam Mendes was set to direct the film, but has since pulled out of the project. Novelist and screenwriter Nick Hornby has been put in charge of the film, but it is unclear if the film is still in the works or not.
