“Better Call Saul” was on everyone’s lips again. The Breaking Bad prequel was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at the Emmys and lead actor Bob Odenkirk was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series.
In an interview with the magazine On the occasion of his Emmy nomination, the actor announced that there is no hope that his character Jimmy McGill will be out of prison anytime soon. So a seventh season of Better Call Saul, which will probably never happen, would be very different from the previous series – because it would be a prison drama. The actor clearly put a lot of thought into what would happen there.
Jimmy in prison: a powerful person
As Odenkirk explains in an interview with that of course Jimmy would be “an important person in prison”. His knowledge of the law, his ability to manipulate situations to his advantage would place him at the top: “I assume he controls the prison. Or he is the consigliere of the one who manages things”, so the actor – also referring to the concept of the mafia bosses consultant consigliere, which is also known from the classic movie “The Godfather”. There, Robert Duvall plays lawyer Tom Hagen, who serves as consigliere of the Corleone family.
The ‘Better Call Saul’ star is definitely convinced: Jimmy would “probably be a very important man there, but he will have to settle for that.”
New series from Bob Odenkirk – when will it finally arrive in Germany?
By the way, Bob Odenkirk already has a new series. “Lucky Hank” was made for broadcaster AMC, who had already made “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul”. Odenkirk plays the professor at a financially underfunded university who finds himself in the middle of a midlife crisis after a particularly stressful week. Everything just seems to go wrong, both professionally and privately.
The first season ran from March to May 2023 in the US. Unfortunately, when and how the series will eventually come to Germany is not yet known.
