Great fun: 12 of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Switzerland

class=”sc-29f61514-0 fQbOYE”>

1/14
The Oeschinensee in Kandersteg BE is a Unesco World Heritage site and is the jewel of mountain lakes in Switzerland.

one

Oeschinensee BE: Against Blüemlisalp

A classic swimming lake in the Bernese Oberland, located above Kandersteg by Adolf Ogis. You can easily hike from the valley to Oeschinensee, but there is also a cable car for the more energetic. Blüemlisalp, one of the most famous peaks in the Oberland, rises directly from the lake.

2

Lac de Champex VS: St. Bernhard in Canada

The Romans also call it “Switzerland’s little Canada”. With its lake, forest and wooden chalets. The lake is quite centrally located near Champex. It is a stone’s throw from Martigny. By Orsières, Great St. A train runs along the road to Bernhard, then the mail bus takes you up the steep serpentines. You can also take a pleasant walk around the lake before jumping into the cool water – it takes about 45 minutes.

3

Caumasee GR: An uncanny classic

It’s a secret, but a well kept secret. The first is the secret: no one knows exactly how Lake Cauma “works” under Flims. Apparently, this possibly the most famous Swiss mountain lake is fed by an underground tributary. This provides temperatures of up to 24 degrees in summer. That’s why the secret is poorly kept. On busy days, there are as many as 3,000 people in Badi ready to pay the relatively high entrance fee of 12 francs. Accessible – also iconic – by funicular.

4

Schönenbodensee SG: Second Lake Constance

Lake Constance is beautiful, Schönenbodensee is even more beautiful. Is that why it’s called that? Getting to a mountain lake is easy, especially for the lowlands from the Zurich region and eastern Switzerland, because you can get there pretty quickly in Toggenburg. And from there it’s still on the lake: the walk to the Wildhaus Dorf bus stop is less than a kilometer. Table tennis and barbecue are also available on site.

5

Stazersee GR: on Engadin

The Great Engadin lakes are not very suitable for swimming – they are too cold. Exception, St. It is Lake Staz, located in the forest between Moritz and Pontresina. In Lej da Staz there are often temperatures above 20 degrees.

6

Hinterburgsee BE: Hidden in Axalp

Those not from the region know Axalp above Lake Brienz for one reason: it’s the annual shooting range of the Swiss Air Force. In summer, the real star of the region is Hinterburgsee, which can be reached by walking for about an hour from the bus station in the village. Caution: make sure you have some supplies with you. Unlike other lakes, there is absolutely no infrastructure.

7

Walensee SG: Beach meets mountain

A sandy beach between high mountain ridges? Beach meets mountain at the picturesque and romantic Lake Walen. The swimming beach “Gäsi” between the towns of Weesen and Filzbach is still viewed as an insider tip. A small forest in the sandy swimming area provides additional coolness as the sun sets.

8.

Murtensee FR: family paradise

Switzerland cannot logically keep up with the miles of sandy beaches of Mauritius, Maldives or Bali. But we are close: the natural sandy beach of Salavaux on Lake Murten is over a kilometer long! And many shade trees can also be palm trees. The flat beach, with its wide range of recreational activities, is very suitable for families.

9

Lake Lucerne LU: Mediterranean feel

Lucerne’s beach paradise is located in the seaside resort Lido Lucerne. The name says it all: you feel like you are in the Mediterranean here. The 300 meters long sandy beach is green grass where men and women can relax. If the mountain lake is too cold for you (Lake Lucerne is not the Mediterranean after all), you can swim in the heated pool. The resort is therefore also a perfect destination for families.

10

Tomasee GR: mountain air

You have to deserve this composure, after all, Lake Toma is not only a real beauty in the middle of untouched mountains, but also the source of the Rhine, Europe’s river legend. You have to walk for an hour and a half from the Oberalp Pass to reach the 2,344 meter high first class cooling area. Caution: Ice water is for tough guys only!

11th

Seealpsee AI: Evergreen

For some, Seealpsee is considered the most beautiful lake in Switzerland. It can be argued about, but the little lake at the foot of Säntis is definitely a gem. After a walk in Alpstein, you can wonderfully relax on its shores and bravely “chick” into the ice-cold water. Bathing beauties and princesses can have their heroes row them across the lake in a small boat.

12

Leisee VS: gem

Leisee is Zermatt’s answer to Rio’s famous Copacabana beach. Bikini beauties and families scurry around this small lake with idyllic views of the mystical Matterhorn. For families with children, various play facilities are available. You can also sizzle and relax in the barbecue areas.
